More news soon, -The Lights 7.12.04 Our West-Coast Tour was a fucking blast. We played 6 shows in 10 days from San Francisco to Missoula. We camped, we swam, we drank and rocked out. To all the good people in San Francisco, Portland, Oakland, Seattle and Missoula that put up with our shit along the way, we thank you tons. Exceptional thanks to our good friend Excitable Rooster and the Arrow Bar. If you are in San Francisco, you have to stop by the Arrow Bar and witness the chaos for yourself. Missoula's Wantage Fest was once again the feel-good party of the summer. Josh Vanek continues to one up himself every year. This year's rock fest featured two indoor stages and one outdoor stage. Vanek and his crew of volunteers put on one hell of a festival, brewed up some Wantage Fest Pilsner, hosted a tasty BBQ and record swap, took us swimming and left us wondering why people in Montana are so damn nice and ahead of the game. We'll be playing the Capitol Hill Block Party on July 24, then we're heading into the studio to record with Erik Blood. Have a good summer, -The Lights 6.9.04 We're packing up our orange Ford van for a west-coast tour in July. If you have friends in any of the following cities, give 'em a heads up and tell 'em all to come out. We'll be playing a few shows with our friends the Solace Bros and Talkdemonic before finishing the trip off in Missoula, Montana for Wantage Record's annual blowout. Check www.wantageusa.com for a full line up. Here's what we have booked so far: July 3 July 4 July 5 July 6 July 8 July 10-11 Missoula, MT at the Otherside -The Lights 4.28.04 The Lights are huge in Serbia! DJ Predrag Strazmester picked the Lights and the Dutch Flat tracks off the Wantage Records Compilation to be played on his show, "Alternatives," which is broadcast in Vojvodina, Serbia, Bosnia & Hercegovina - Moslem-Croat part. The Familiars are the most humble bunch of kids ever and the greatest band to ever come out of Everett, WA. Not only did 1/2 the band survive a harrowing ordeal of being lost in snow for 3 nights, but they rock out with reckless abandon and have the balls to break out a banjo in the parking lot after a show. We salute you. We're currently booking a West-Coast tour with the Solace Brothers. We'll also be returning to Missoula on July 9-10 for WantageFest. We'll then finish off July in the studio with Erik Blood. -The Lights 3.26.04 We've just returned from SXSW and what a kick in the pants that was. Way too much free Mexican beer, Mexican food and not enough sleep. We managed to schmooze our way into a MSN sponsored party with Grandmaster Flash, the Ravonettes and Polyphonic Spree. Saw way too many other bands to even remember half of them. We hung out with tons of cool people, including the good folks behind such great bands as Cobra High, the Spits, IQU, the Catheters, Solace Bros. and many others. Our hosts Tom and Leah we're the best, thanks again. Oh yeah and if all that wasn't overwhelming enough, our hotel on Saturday night was hosting the Texas Furry Convention so we got an eyeful of that scene as well. Wantage USA's "Hits Omnibus" Compilation is finally out and well worth the wait. It's an eclectic blend of bands and musical genres from the U.S. and Latvia. It features tracks from the Joggers, Dutch Flat, Japanther, Fireballs of Freedom, the Narrows, Cajun Gems (Joggers side project), No-Fi Soul Rebellion, Early Humans, Federation X, Bloodhag, Dub Narcotic Sound System, Volumen, Sasshole, The Planet The, Johnny X and the Groadies, the Fucking Champs and many others.. -The Lights 2.17.04 Thanks to everyone who voted... we are now going to SXSW. Check out the shows page for more info. -The Lights 1.22.04 Friends, The Stranger is sponsoring a showcase at this year's SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas. The Lights have been chosen as one of many Seattle bands eligible to play that showcase. We need to get out the vote. Next Wednesday's Stranger (Thursday, Jan 29) will have a ballot in it. Please fill one out and drop it off at one of the local record stores (Sonic Boom, Easy Street Records). The band with the most votes goes to Austin, Texas to rock out. I can not even tell you how bad Craig, PJ and myself have been dreaming of such an opportunity. Please take a minute and help us get there. -The Lights 1.13.04 New MP3's from our album "Beautiful Bird" added to the music page today. Download your heart out. Mass love, -The Lights 1.5.04 "Beautiful Bird" finished a respectable #80 on KEXP's top 90.3 of 2003 and as the #8 local release of the year.
